The Contest runs from August 1 – September 7, 2023 (the “Contest Period”) and is open to any student attending a post-secondary institution in Nova Scotia who, during the Contest Period, completes the digital ballot available on CUA’s website (the “Entrant”). Entrants are not required to be active customers of CUA. The digital ballot is accessible directly via the CUA website.
  2. No Purchase Necessary: No purchase of any CUA product or service is necessary to enter this Contest.
  3. Entry Restrictions: Employees and board members of CUA are not eligible for Contest entry. To be eligible to enter the Contest, Entrants must be legal residents of Canada, reside in Nova Scotia, and must have reached the age of majority in Nova Scotia. If a student has not reached the age of majority, a parent or legal guardian may provide consent to enter the Contest. Residents of other provinces are not eligible to enter the Contest unless living in and attending a post-secondary institution in Nova Scotia. Entrants are permitted a maximum of one entry through the online balloting system, with any additional online ballots deemed void and disqualified.
  4. Entry Deadline: To be accepted, Entrants must complete the digital ballot no later than 11:59 p.m. ADT on Thursday, September 7, 2023. Late entries will not be accepted.
  5. Prizes: A total of ten (10) grand prizes will be awarded to Contest winners. A total of five (5) secondary prizes will be awarded during in-campus visits. A total of one (1) Anniversary bonus prize will be awarded to an additional Contest winner.
    1. Ten (10) one thousand ($1,000) tuition cheques to be written to the recipient’s post-secondary institution.
    2. Five (5) five hundred ($500) tuition or bookstore cheques to be written to the recipient’s post-secondary institution during in-person campus visits.
    3. One (1) seven hundred and fifty ($750) tuition cheque to be written to the recipient’s post-secondary institution.
  6. Selection and Determination of Prize Winners and Prize Distribution:
    1. Grand Prize and Anniversary bonus winning Entrants will be selected through random draws of all eligible digital ballot entries received by the end of the Contest Period. The prize draws will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. ADT at CUA’s Corporate Office, located at 350-7105 Chebucto Road, Halifax, Nova Scotia. Selected Entrants will be notified by telephone using the number they provide upon completing the digital ballot. If the winner cannot immediately be reached, a voicemail will be left requesting them to contact a CUA representative to claim their prize. If a response from the voicemail is not received within twenty-four (24) hours, CUA will conduct one additional phone call and email the Entrant with the email address they provide upon completing the digital ballot. If there is no response to the second phone call and initial email within twenty-four (24) hours, the entry will be considered void and disqualified. The Entrant will then have no recourse against CUA. A new Entrant will be selected for the prize, and the above notification process will be repeated until all selected Entrants are contacted. The odds of selection will depend on the total number of eligible entries received. Before being declared a prize winner, each selected Entrant must a) be confirmed as a student of a Nova Scotia post-secondary institution; b) sign a photo consent form confirming their name, photo and likeness may be used in CUA marketing and promotions; and c) may be required to correctly answer a time-limited, skill-testing mathematical question, without mechanical or other assistance. Selected Entrants must accept their prize as awarded; no prize is redeemable for exchanges or substitutions. The selected Entrants may be required to visit a CUA branch to receive their prize.
    2. Secondary Prize winning Entrants will be selected through random draws of all eligible digital ballot entries received at the end of each of five campus visits. The prize draws will be held on Wednesday, September 6 and Thursday, September 7, 2023, at each campus location. Selected Entrants will be notified by telephone using the number they provide on the physical ballot.

  9. Applicable Law: The Contest and the prizes awarded are subject to all applicable federal, provincial, and municipal laws.
  10. Privacy: CUA abides by its online privacy policy with all digital communications and promotions. Submission of a completed digital ballot shall be treated as an Entrant’s express consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of their personal information, as noted above, if they are selected as a prize winner.
