The Season for Giving and Community

With the beginning of the holiday season, it’s a great time to reflect on how much we have accomplished in the past year. Many of you have reached your financial goals while others may be developing new ones for the upcoming year. Our team at CUA is grateful for your trust and letting us be part of your financial journey. We look forward to continuing to work with you in the new year.
This is the season of giving, a time where many members of our community can use a helping hand. If you are able, or have the time to spare over the month, it’s a meaningful time to give back, whether it be through volunteering or donations. Another way to support Nova Scotians over the holidays is making some of your holiday purchases locally sourced.
Purchasing Nova Scotian or Canadian made goods has been highlighted even more this year. If you’re still trying to find the right gift for your loved ones, we’ve just released our annual Holiday Wishlist to help you out. This year we’ve focused on a few of our member businesses and Community Investment Grant recipients that can help you find the perfect “Nova Scotia” gift for everyone on your list. Checking off your list, supporting Nova Scotian-owned businesses and celebrating community—that’s the perfect holiday hat trick!
One of the most significant ways CUA contributes to the community is with our Community Investment Grant Program. Since this program’s inception in 2015, we have contributed more than $650,000 to meaningful businesses, projects and initiatives throughout Nova Scotia. I am pleased to announce that the Grant Program will be returning again for 2026, and we’ll be accepting applications from anywhere in the Province beginning in January. For this year’s Grant Program, we also have an exciting announcement that will be coming in the new year. Keep an eye on our website at cua.com/grants or our social media channels for all of the Grant Program information and updates.
As you continue to settle into the winter chill and prepare for holiday festivities ahead, I’d encourage you to keep your financial goals in mind. If you need support with budgeting, we have several resources available on our website including timely CUAdvice articles for Keeping Your Budget on Track and Holiday Feasting on a Budget.
On behalf of the entire team at CUA, I wish you and your loved ones a warm, safe and happy holiday season. Thank you for choosing the better way to bank. As always, if you would like to connect with us at any point to discuss your financial journey, please reach out to us at 902.492.6500 or info@cua.com.
