A Season of Opportunities and Team Appreciation

As we approach the first day of summer later this month, we look forward to longer days, nicer weather and our favourite outdoor activities with friends and family. This is also the season when many high school graduates begin searching for summer jobs before returning to further education in September. Many of us have students in our families who are crossing the stage, exploring employment options or carefully considering what comes next. I want to share some resources and products available that can help support your job search, both for summer opportunities and future career planning.

If you’re searching for a summer job, a great place to start is ensuring your application is up to date. The Nova Scotia Works website offers great resources for building or updating a resume and cover letter.  If you are attending post-secondary in September, or are considering upgrading your current skillset, we have several products to help you get started with your next chapter. At CUA, we have several student-focused banking products including free chequing accounts and a Student Line of Credit. The student banking section of our website also shares various bursaries and resources that are available to students. Our own 10k in a Day Program, which awards $10,000 in tuition money to students at post-secondary institutions in Nova Scotia, will be returning in August and September. Plus, if you’re considering a career in Trades, CUA offers a Skilled Trades Banking Program for students entering or recently graduated from NSCC’s School of Trades and Transportation.

As we move through this exciting and transitional time of year, it’s also an opportunity to recognize the value of the skills, growth and dedication that shape early career experiences and support long-term success. Whether it’s students taking their first steps into the workforce or continuing to build on their education, these experiences play an important role in developing confidence and personal capability. We wish all students the very best in their job search and in the exciting opportunities ahead as they continue building their futures.

And speaking of dedication and success, CUA will be holding its annual Employee Appreciation Week this June to acknowledge the work that our incredible team puts into helping our members reach their full financial potential. I would like to take this opportunity to recognize the entire CUA team for their ongoing commitment to providing a great banking experience.

As always, if you have any questions about student banking or any other financial matter, please reach out to a member of our team at 902.492.6500 or info@cua.com.
