Celebrating our members and Small Business Month

With October marking the beginning of Small Business Month in Canada, I want to take a moment to acknowledge and thank our business members for the work they do to support our regional economy. Their contributions go beyond the products and services they provide; they create jobs and drive economic growth for the Province. As many industries continue to face challenges, particularly as the effects of tariffs ripple through many businesses, the Halifax Chamber of Commerce’s Tariff Resource Centre may be a useful resource for businesses that are impacted.

As part of our support for Small Business Month, we’re highlighting the work of the Halifax Chamber of Commerce in this month’s profile. They shared some of the benefits of membership such as preferred rates, networking opportunities, and the chance to strengthen your voice in the Halifax business community. As an Affinity Partner with the Chamber, CUA offers flexible banking solutions and preferred rates to Chamber members. Year-round, CUA supports and promotes small businesses through our Community Partners Program by connecting Nova Scotian businesses with CUA members through exclusive offers and discounts. When you’re out shopping, look for the blue CUA Community Partner sticker and simply show your CUA debit card to receive the benefits. This Program is open to all Nova Scotian businesses, so if you own or operate a business and would like to join, you can easily sign up on our website. 

Finally, in recognition and gratitude for all our members, we’re holding our annual Member Appreciation Day on Thursday, November 5. This event celebrates you, our amazing members, with in-branch celebrations and exciting prizes, including $1,000 cash! Be sure to get your ballots in early to qualify for our early-bird bonus prizes, which take place each Friday in October, beginning October 9. You can submit your ballot at cua.com/members.
