CUA Announces Grants Available for Local Halifax Businesses
Two $1,500 Local Business Grants available for the growth or start-up of a local Halifax business
October 15, 2015 Halifax, NS - Local, community-based banking institution CUA announced today that two $5,000 grants are available for locally-owned businesses in Halifax.
As part of their Community Investment Grant Program launched earlier this year, CUA is committed to providing financial support to projects that will directly benefit the community. The program is an expression of CUA's vision that its members and communities are better off, and provides broad support to projects with aim to effect positive economic, social and environment change.
The goal of the Local Business Grant is to provide local businesses with funds to complement their startup or growth in Halifax. Business owners can apply for the grant by completing a simple online form with less than five questions - no hefty application process required, intended to make it easier for the busy small business owner to be able to enter.
"As a locally-owned and operated banking institution, we know that small businesses are the heartbeat of our local economy and we understand the importance of local spending," said Marie Mullally, President & CEO of CUA. "The Local Business Grant is just one of the ways that we actively support small businesses here in Halifax."
Through their "Buy Local, Bank Local" initiative launched in early 2014, CUA is committed to purchasing from local, member businesses in all aspects of their operations. CUA also offers the Small Business Loan Guarantee Program, which is an exclusive offering and delivers better financial assistance for the start-up and expansion of local small businesses.
