Marie Mullally
President & CEO

Marie is the President and CEO of CUA, one of the largest community-based banking institutions in Atlantic Canada, a position she has held since 2011.  Prior to this role, Marie was the President & CEO of the Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation (NSGC), a Provincial Crown corporation, for ten years. Under her leadership, NSGC became a recognized world leader for innovative responsible gambling programs.
An alumnus of Dalhousie University, Marie holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Master of Business Administration degrees, finishing first in her class. She received the Fellow Chartered Accountants designation from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nova Scotia, and was named Chartered Accountant of the Year in 2008.  Marie has also been recognized as one of the top 50 CEOs in Atlantic Canada and holds the Certified Director’s designation from the Canadian Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD).  

In addition to her work, Marie is an active volunteer in the community. She has provided leadership on a number of private, not-for-profit, and public sector boards. Marie currently serves as Chair on the boards of the Halifax International Airport Authority and Nova Scotia Business Inc., and is also a director of FICANEX, the second largest ATM exchange network in Canada.

Scott Durling
Vice President, Member Services

Scott brought his 15 plus years of experience in the financial services industry to the CUA team in 2012.

As Vice President, Member Services, Scott provides leadership to all eight branches, the CUA Commercial Centre, Customer Contact Centre, and CUA Wealth Management Services. Scott’s demonstrated record of effective coaching and strong communication skills lend him to motivate, inspire and engage CUA’s staff team. 

Scott enjoys mountain biking, coaching his son’s Bedford basketball team and golfing.

Kathy MacLeod
Vice President, Finance

Kathy joined the CUA team in 2017 and brings over 30 years of experience in the accounting field with her, as well as 16 years in the financial industry. Kathy spent 15 years working with Blue Cross (formerly Maritime Medical) and 16 years with IFS. Making the move to CUA was an exciting change.

Kathy has been an active member in her community over the years, being involved with school committees, hockey clubs and more. She now focuses most of her free time on her family, but has not been able to escape Sports Central.

In both her professional and personal life, Kathy is known as the Gatekeeper of Funds.

Member Services Delivery Team

Shaun MacIntyre
Director, Commercial Services

Shaun was born and raised in Glace Bay, Cape Breton. With over twenty years' experience in commercial banking, Shaun specializes in franchise banking, international trade, aboriginal banking, knowledge-based industries and real estate financing. He joined the CUA team in 2012.

In his spare time, Shaun gives back to the community through his volunteer with as Treasurer for the Hammonds Plains Community Centre and as President of the Bay Treasure Chest Association.

Shaun lives in Hammonds Plains with his wife, two sons, and Miniature Labradoodle.

Mike Caron
Branch Manager, Annex Branch and Spryfield Branch

With over 30 years’ experience in the financial industry, Mike brings a passion to helping CUA members achieve their financial goals. Mike promotes a team concept to helping members achieve these goals by leveraging the great teams he has at the Annex and Spryfield branches.

Mike is an avid skier and a Canadian Ski Patrol member, and volunteers his time at the local Nova Scotia Ski mountains of Martock and Wentworth in the winter months. He also volunteers with Junior Achievement, Urban Developers Institute in HRM and Ronald McDonald house.

Mike loves to travel, and he and his wife Margo take advantage of this opportunity as often as possible.

Karen Corney

Branch Manager, Spring Garden Road Branch and Tantallon Branch

Karen joined the CUA team in the fall of 2016 and employs an approachable, lead-by-example style to motivate her team. She comes to CUA with a career based in banking and people management, recruitment and branch management. She has acquired several certificates over the years that help her continue to grow and learn as a manager.

She loves working within an organization that focuses on helping local families and businesses grow, thrive and achieve their goals.

When she isn’t with her CUA family, you can find Karen watching action movie marathons, cheering on the Boston Bruins, travelling and spending time with her husband and pug puppy, Jaxson.

Caroline Lighthall
Branch Manager, Wyse Road Branch

Caroline celebrates over 30 years with the CUA team and throughout her rewarding career, she has held many roles.

Caroline is passionate about helping everyday people get ahead and is committed to providing members with the best possible customer service, believing that their financial well-being is a priority.

She enjoys staying active by attending fitness and yoga classes, and loves travelling and spending time with her family and friends.

Myra Lucia

Manager, Civic Branch

With years of experience working in roles from financial planning to managing client care and branch locations throughout Nova Scotia, and coming from a family of bankers, Myra is no stranger to the financial industry.

Myra is passionate about supporting the community and helping others. As the Branch Manager at the Lady Hammond location, she strives to help members and the CUA team find opportunities to reach their goals. Myra is also on the board of the Canadian Rights and Freedom Centre and Inspiring Hope, an organization that supports individuals with cancer.

If she isn’t at work, you can find Myra walking her dog Oakley or spending time with her daughters. Myra also enjoys cooking and practicing yoga.

Don Smith
Branch Manager, Cole Harbour Branch and Pleasant Street Branch

With over 30 years' experience in the financial industry, Don joined the CUA team in 2012. Having served in a wide variety of roles, Don possesses a passion for leading and developing teams that is focused on helping members achieve financial success.

As an active member of the community, Don volunteers with Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Children’s Wish Foundation, and more recently, Habitat for Humanity Nova Scotia.

In his spare time, he enjoys boating at the family cottage, mountain biking, cheering on his beloved Winnipeg Blue Bombers, and spending time with his wife and their Miniature Austrailian Sheppard, Taz.
